Job constantly changes so if you like the flexibilty or seek new challenges this is the place for you

There does not seem to be cohesive strategy or planning to get things done in an organized manner

Pros

Looks good on resume Travel opportunities if you like locations off the beaten path Pay can be good if you are international staff Opportunity to work with some very smart people (though job rarely requires great mental ability) Training is good

Cons

Work life balance is almost non existent Crazy working hours Support staff is expendable International staff vs Home country staff salary/benefits packages totally out of whack Training/expertise gained is in extremely narrow field Lack of professional development outside Schlumberger competency areas. E.g. They hire a lot of electronic engineers but you will probably never attain status in professional bodies.
