Pros

- Structured training plan. *Relatively* self paced advancement.

Cons

- The *relatively* self paced advancement is good and bad. I say bad because it is required to attend various schools to get your first raise. For this you are at the mercy of class availability and workload for your department. On the plus side SLB will not limit you to attending only local classes, so if there is a class available in another country, and it is relative to the work you do at your shop, then you can apply to attend that one.

Pros

They give lots of responsibility to employees at an early age, and give you ample chances to prove yourself and move up in the company. It is a very exciting company to work for, you learn a lot, and you get to meet people from all over the world, and travel as well. In addition, Schlumberger is VERY well respected in the oil industry, and success here will open many doors for you.

Cons

You work a LOT. New employees can work up to 300 days per year, and the hours are long. Variable schedules also make it difficult to schedule activities outside of work and to see your family.
