      Schlumberger is a good company to work for, but prepare to work hard.

      Pros

      Allows employees to grow and learn not just their jobs, but the whole company's goals. It has less controversies compared to competitors.

      Cons

      The work does take over some of your personal time, but with the Oil and Gas industry, what company doesn't?

      Pros

      International exposure is bar none; the training is excellent; and the calibre of people you meet is never failed to amaze me.

      Cons

      Brutal hours and the type of work is often random and sporadic. As a junior, it is very dependent on the quality of the manager since he can make or mar your time there. This is more than evident since a high-flyer will take you along and teach you a lot and a sedentary mule is going to make you insane with boredom. Lack of choice on progression of juniors - you have to put your time in at each level and no real performance evaluation benefits; global locations can include undesirable ones

      Good oil field company to start out at.

      Pros

      Good pay package. The company rewards hard work, and if you're willing to put the extra effort and hours, you will make a lot more money. Field engineers tend to make a % of the work done on top of their base salaries, so you can get rich fairly quickly. Training is pretty good too.

      Cons

      Work-life balance is not the greatest. Hours can be unusual. Locations are horrible, unless you enjoy living in the middle of no where.
