Pros

Pros: 1. Stay physically active while at work 2. Able to promote to a supervisor relatively quick 3. Cash tips daily

Cons: 1. Incompetent/inexperienced employees. (Manager hires anyone who comes their way due to lack of staff) 2. Job does not pay enough per hour, especially after COVID-19 started. After the pandemic many jobs began increasing hourly wages and offering benefits due to the labor shortage. However SP is still only offering $6-$7 per hour for valet attendants who only make an average of $50-80 in tips daily (at current location). Which is not a lot considering tip average at other valet locations for other companies. Remote jobs are also offering $14-17 per hour to work from home, and SP+ does not recognize that people are no longer going to work for $6-$7/hr with tips if it is simply not worth it. 3. Managers lack in workload management skills, causing their staff to become quickly burntout. 4. The job creates a huge toll on your mental and physical health, especially when you work full-time. And valet in my opinion, should only be treated as a part-time side job, and not as a full-time job. 5. When working for SP at a hotel location, workload is increased and pay is the same. Taks inlcude bellman work (hauling luggage), especially when there is a rush of guests checking in to the hotel. Supervisor must also post valet transactions to rooms in another office several times during the shift, even if its busy and you cant keep up. 6. Outdated ticket system. The paper ticket valet system that SP uses is extremely outdated and insanely time consuming. You must scan a ticket in, input all the information into the computer manually, and print out an additional ticket for the key (which rips off every time the guest returns). Guests always lose paper tickets. The amount of work youre left to deal with simply because of this system is aggrevating. Especially when there are electronic paperless valet systems such as SMS valet.
