Pros

The best reasons to work for SRA are job stability and work-life balance. If you do mediocre to good work at SRA, your job is safe forever. Especially if you are in a position that is hard to restaff (developers seem to fit this category).

Cons

If your a software developer, you have a life of forever being a cog in the software development process to look forward to. Technical mastery at SRA does not translate to promotions. SRA is a management consulting company. The only way to be promoted to Principal or levels 4 and 5 of your particular discipline is to become a manager.

Growing Pains.

Pros

Good benefits, fair pay, interesting work.

Cons

SRA International is in transition from a smaller employee focused company to a large corporate machine, which is does have disadvantages. Increasingly, employees are beginning to feel like "numbers". Annual raises are becoming less and their appears to be a disconnect between management and those in the field.

Pros

SRA has always prided themselves on balancing their responsibilities to their customers, their employees, and their community. For the most part, this has continued even as the company has grown, but more (lately) at the individual and project level, where most folks seem to really care about their jobs and their people.

Cons

SRA's senior leadership has always run the company in a very "clubby", "who-knows-who" fashion, based on personal networks and relationships, stemming from the SRA's origins as a very small firm and sustained by the corporate culture. When the company was below a certain size, this generally worked well. But with the latest growth, and a new echelon of executives who don't seem to understand what managing a professional services firm entails, this approach has broken down severely. More and more, executives are making decisions that seem to ignore the best interests of their employees, which surely can't have positive implications for the bottom line.
