Pros

SRP pays interns well, and they're generally very flexible (depending on your manager). They take lots of interns from ASU. You will also earn tuition reimbursement after 6 months which is very valuable. It was my first technical job and a good introduction to IT.

Cons

There's a lot of bureaucracy and many hoops to jump through. The software development work is just internal enterprise applications, which aren't new, exciting, or innovative. The work is rather bland. I was sometimes not impressed by the caliber of other employees.

Pros

SRP is a very old, very stable company that offers comprehensive benefits and ready access to any number of career development opportunities. This is the kind of company where career employees with 30-40 years of experience are not the exception, they are the norm - that speaks volumes about the company itself.

Cons

Certainly, as with any company, you might get a less-than-inspiring supervisor or manager. But the great thing about SRP is that movement within the company, even between the Power and Water sides of the company is not only not frowned upon, it's considered a healthy thing. So it is the rare employee who feels locked into their particular job. If you wish to move around, you will have that opportunity. That said, many who don't suffer a dolt for a boss wind up spending decades in the same role, satisfied. The work/life balance is good.
