Pros

Nearly all staff who have direct patient contact genuinely care about the patients. It's great to work with such kind people. Providing care to patients is very rewarding and the patients are a pleasure to work with.

Cons

High turnover. Pay is terrible; benefits is average...New hires are valued more than long-time staff. Recently, I was told that a new hire (in the same position as me with similar qualifications/experience) was paid more; I found out that this wasn't a localized case. Long-time staff/providers/MAs in different departments told me they are in a similar situation. How is it that a new-graduate and new-hire can earn more than an experienced staff member? This is because the pay raises are poor (1.5% a year...IF it's a "good year"). That's not even enough to keep up with inflation! Those who have been loyal to the clinic end up falling behind, as a result. Health insurance benefits used to be at 100% employer-subsidized, but now employees have to contribute a fraction of the cost. Unfortunately, to add a dependent to the HMO plan it costs $500+! It's not affordable considering the low pay-scale. Sick leave caps out and you can't cash out on sick leave, which creates a "use it or lose it" mentality. Some staff will call out sick just to make sure they don't lose the hours, which creates an unexpected burden on everyone else.

Pros

Great interaction with patients and community involvement. Pay is way below market rate.

Cons

Leadership has it favorites. People are promoted based on likeability by upper management . Very bureaucratic, there seems to be a continuing "fear based culture" from HR Department. High turn over of staff.
