Pros

-real commitment to work-life balance and entirely reasonable hours -interesting work depending on your supervisor, and lots of opportunity to take on new responsibility

Cons

-management style (learning on the fly) not particularly helpful for new employees without prior publishing experience -need more hands-on approach -communication between superiors and lower-level employees not strong

Pros

The people you work with are all interesting, smart, and capable. The company offers really good benefits, and compared to other people they're amazing. The management is pretty good in most departments.

Cons

It's a publishing job, so no one expects a big salary. That being said, salaries are definitely on the low end of the range. Makes it hard to get by in DC.
