Pros

If you leave looks good on a resume

Coming to Salesforce I made about 30k less than my last job and moved to a city that cost twice as much. Very few hit quota and they will not discuss the possibly of it being a lack of opportunity in the territory. As for the culture...it's not just that there's an extreme lack of diversity but also how they treat their few minorities. I've met so many people across the company in San Francisco, Toronto, Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Boston, New York, and Dallas. Black employees everywhere have had a bad experience here. It's really changed me mentally. I'm a very sociable person but since I came to Salesforce I've been very isolated. Yes, I've spoken with our HR but even black employees that worked in HR have said they have the same gaslighting experience. It's sad because I can tell that the majority (not all but those I've reached out to for help) aren't interested in change but they continue to push their values on "equality". It's extremely triggering.

Pros

Great products and technology, awesome customer base and community, good benefits A few years of success at Salesforce.com will add lots of credibility to your resume. After a few years you will be highly marketable to Salesforce partners, other SaaS companies and --if you develop Salesforce technical skills-- any company that uses Salesforce as a customer.

Cons

Since early 2013 there has been a massive influx of new hires --including middle and upper management-- from Oracle. This large scale migration of folks from Oracle to Salesforce means that there are teams within Salesforce where the vast majority of the management structure consist of people hired from Oracle since early 2013. In my case, ALL of the managers (director and VP level) on my team came from Oracle within the past two years. These managers hired a slew of folks into our team from Oracle. At one point, 70% of the new hires on my team came from Oracle. None of these new hires were vetted for cultural fit (because they were hired by managers who didn't understand or value the culture) and none of them competed for their jobs at Salesforce. (Ie, only one candidate was considered for each position.) When you land on a team like this one, you don't really work at Salesforce... you work at some weird bastardization of Salesforce and Oracle. You are selling Salesforce products, but you are living in the Oracle corporate culture, which sucks. The Oracle execs running these teams have not embraced the Salesforce culture and they strongly favor hiring unqualified Oracle refugees over hiring better qualified candidates coming from any other company. The degree of favoritism towards Oracle candidates is offensive. Be very careful before you even pursue a position at Salesforce. Outside of San Francisco, the corporate culture is NOTHING like the experience that Fortune magazine describes in their "best companies to work for" article about Salesforce.

Pros

The company has great compensation, bonuses, and amazing benefits. There are a lot of opportunities for internal mobility.

Cons

This is a sales company. They are incredibly good at selling their culture externally and internally. However, the gap between the stated culture and what happens on a day to day basis is huge. I would describe this company as ruthless rather than "Ohana". In my experience, this company has some of the worst managers in the tech industry. Like the saying goes, people don't leave their jobs, they leave their managers, and that is certainly why I left. The environment is highly political and punitive. Favoritism is rampant, and the path to promotion is completely unclear and subjective. There is very little diversity among executives, aside from their token POC who runs the Equality group. Everything this company sells as strengths - their commitment to equality and diversity, their values, their culture - is just smoke and mirrors. They talk a good talk, but they don't walk the walk.
