Pros

Some great people doing a great job. Large enough company to find those who can assist you learn the business but not dynamic enough for internal career growth.

Cons

Lack of leader from the CEO. He appears to only look out for himself under the guise of shareholder value. It gets old quick.

Pros

SallieMae is one of the rare companies left that promote from within, allowing a person to really grow professionally. The people I worked with and for were great. The wages were very competitive for the area, and the CEO frequently held meetings to keep everyone informed on how the company was doing.

Cons

Working in the student loan industry can be very stressful. During peak season, long hours are required taking time away from your family and making it difficult to attain a higher level of education.
