Pros

Great operational people to work with. People are generally very skilled and helpful. Salsify pays relatively well for France. Summer flex is implemented so people get to work 4/5 days a week from June to August.

Cons

Product is very complex because of its needed configurability both on ProductXM (Salsify's original solution) and SupplierXM (Alkemics' original solution) There's one of the poorest leadership I have experienced in France accross departments (R&D, CS, Product, PS) from Director to VP levels. This is exemplified by the lack of decision making (team of delegators), commitment (some leaders seem to work far less than operationals) and integrity/exemplarity (some leaders allow themselves to have unprofessional attitudes). This is even worse since recent layoffs and promotion & raise freeze. This added to complex customers (retailers and manufacturers) puts a very high pressure on operational people accross departments. I think both companies Salsify and Alkemics used to be great start-ups/scale-ups with thought leadership. Now these days are gone and I wouldn't recommend to join this company whatever the rôle.

hard to move within the organization... you need to do the new position before you get the new position; lack of structure around annual reviews

The pay and benefits at Salsify are great, and management is understanding and cooperative when employees need to take time off or fix their work/life balance.

Cons

Things change quicky, as it happens with this kind of tech company. Sometimes this means that priorities will change under your feet, sometimes temporarily, sometimes more lastingly.
