Pros

Government employment benefits, including good Health Insurance, retirement 401(k) employer contributions, vacation.

Cons

401(k) has no stock options, only Fidelity-managed funds. Most areas prohibit personal electronic devices (cell phones, MP3 players), parking is always a hassle. The project you work on may change due to disappearing funding at the end of an FY.

Great working environment. Sharp people. Awesome work/life balance.

Cons

Salary may be low for the area (SF Bay Area) and type of work people are doing, but this is largely offset by work life balance. Not that big of a con.
