Pros

$28/hr, which is good. As much time off as you want.

Cons

No oversight. Not safety conscious, (lack proper safety equipment and lack of training - no rush to obtain it). Takes several months to honour pay raises. Had to double check pay and hours (several times missed a day) Try to limit OT, very cheap company.

Pros

This is a family owned business and they value family, so the work/life balance is friendly. There are a lot of very nice people that work at Savage. Their profits are through the roof and they have continued to grow during this recession.

Cons

The pay is below average and the medical/dental is not great either. They try to make up for in in their bonus, but even then, the compensation is below average. Management, both local operations and regional really have some issues depending on where you work. There a handful of managers that I came across would not be leaders in other companies. One in particular was the reason I left the company. He had no people skills, didn't like many people and not many liked him. He was a long-time mechanic that knew the machinery like the back of his hand. That is great, but he barely knew how to do financials or technology. He loved to gossip about others in the company, especially the Savage brothers and why they were not as good of people as most people believe.

Pros

You get to travel to some different locations and regions throughout the United States and also much of the work is outside in the elements.

Cons

Much of the work is outside and it is a 24/7 and 365 days a year job. Many of the locations are spreaded out and remote.
