Pros

Savage has great job security with fixed-fee long-term contracts in very diversified industries. You have all the benefits and perks of working for a large corporation but still the culture and feel of a smaller family oriented company. Best part about the job - the people you work with. Very safety oriented, great benefits, good management styles

Cons

A few isolated layoffs in some parts of the country over the last 3 years due to the oil market.

Pros

Good colleagues, good tools, good benefits

Cons

Some supervisors were there only because of the "tenure" with the company and did not perform well in duties, so more fell back on me.

Pros

The people are great and generally, you will have what you need to get your job done.

Cons

The company used to be a place you were proud to work. Team members were family (and yes they could be treated like family and actually work). It is now starting to slide the other way. When the former CEO was leading the company you knew you were working for a company that cares about its people. He was a tremendous leader that people respected. Now it is fear, intimidation and and the lack of trust from the highest levels. You will be told that your opinion is valued and to be open and truthful, but what you are not told is that if your opinion is different than the leader (CEO) lookout; he is childish, immature, narcissistic, and will hold it against your FOREVER. You are marked at that point. If you want to go anywhere in the organization you must complain about how you deserve it more and should have it and pester, pester, pester... over and over again until you get it (Don't think about getting a raise for it either. The company vary rarely will give increases for promotions. It is a calling...). Huge inequities within the leadership group favorites and non-favorites. If you are a favorite you can be a non-performer (considered a C player) if you are not a favorite you are labeled a non-performer and remember a couple sentences ago about the traits of the CEO. If this is your type of environment you will do well, but if it is not, beware you will not be happy and will struggle. Remember, production, production, production and then safety if it doesn't get in the way....
