I Do Not Recommend Working There

Pros

I worked with some nice co-workers. I felt that we were doing good work that we could be proud of. Technology was good.

Cons

First off, the location is horrible. Also, the owner would lose his temper at the drop of a hat. There was no reason for some of his screaming and degrading tirades. We were also forced to cut corners which would sacrifice quality, and negatively impact our customers. But no one seemed to care. Also, there is a very strict top-down style of management- only the owner could make even the smallest decisions. This makes everyone feel useless or stupid. I was also approached by men there in inappropriate ways, which was the main reason I left.

Pros

Savant is extremely supportive of growth within the company. Many people are chosen for promotions and put into leadership positions within a year after initial employment. It is a fast-paced environment because education is a rapidly shifting focus area around the world, and the people who work here want to do everything in their power to provide the highest quality e-learning product on the market. The working environment is beautiful, and many unessential needs are met everyday, such as access to free coffee, birthday celebrations, company picnics, extravagant holiday parties, etc. The list goes on because Savant loves to reward its employees by playing hard since they do, indeed, work hard. Retirement plans and insurance are of course available to employees, and premiums are competitive. Raises are offered regularly and fairly.

Cons

The company structure frequently shifts in order to improve the working experience, which can be frustrating for individuals looking for a standard, never-changing 9 to 5 workplace where they can come in, put in their time, and go home. Turning this job into a career is an absolute pleasure if you are willing to make it one, but it can be a nightmare if you don't approach change with a positive outlook and an industrious attitude that is willing to take on new challenges. This business is planted in a small town, and it lends itself towards the typical gossip and politics that can often occur in such small towns. This culture translates easily through the company walls, and there can often be some tensions between co-workers as a result. I find this is typical with a company made up of a majority female workforce, and it is easy to remain above the drama if one chooses not to involve oneself in it.

Pros

Nice working environment. Decent pay for the area, but with the economy improving, salaries are no longer competitive.

Cons

Nasty politics. People pitted against one another. High turnover. Decisions from ownership make no sense. You get the impression that the company is just a front for some bigger agenda. Employees are bought and thrown away like furniture. Favoritism. Very superficial. Not good for the community. No sense of purpose. Overall, just a bad place to work.
