Pros

Flexible schedule. The store manager and production manager seem to have a pretty free hand provided their store is making money. Informal work environment insofar as the typically ridiculous codes regarding dress/safety/decorum/etc. that corporate has dreamed up are largely ignored in favor of actually getting stuff done.

Cons

They don't call it slavers for nothing. They will try and work you to death/termination. Unless you have a degree and are hired as management there is little opportunity for advancement and raises are of the $.20-$.30 variety, no matter how well you perform. It's a low margin business, trying to sell off donated stuff, so everything at the store level is geared toward keeping overhead down. A $2 t-shirt needs to be handled by 4-6 people before it can be sold and the chance of it selling is probably less than %50, so no maintenance or loss prevention because a competent maintenance guy would probably cost nearly as much as the production manager. The store manager is frequently seen emptying garbage cans because one person called in sick/quit/was fired.

Pros

Laid back atmosphere Some decent customers Discount - 50%

Cons

Laid back to a fault Miscommunication - told how to do one task several different ways and only know how to actually do it correctly when reprimanded by supervisor Back breaking work for minimum wage Very rude customers, ranging from crazies to junkies, or simply rude as hell Given one job but expected to be backup for different departments - for some reason they don't fill all positions, maybe to milk each employee for as much as they possibly can. This perhaps does not sound like a big deal but when you are the only person for your specific dept and have to manage other empty depts, you easily get extremely behind in your own work. Bare minimum breaks - I was scheduled for one half hour break in 8 hours. Pretty sure that's illegal, but what do they care?
