Pros

Good place to get your foot into the door of the industry, get some basic knowledge/training and then move on!

Cons

Complete lack of upper management. Offices are left to run themselves and when issues arise it’s never the managers fault, it’s always blamed on the technicians. Promise training and career growth, but will give you bare minimum to do the job so they can underpay you for your work. Job titles do not matter, if you’re listed as a fire tech they will have you running around to cover installs and inspections for other system types you’re not trained on. Management makes promises to improve and listen to employee feedback, then turns around and does the complete opposite of what employees need to succeed. New employees are hired on at better pay rate than existing employees and are sent to training before those in line waiting. Turn over is a big issue, constantly looking for experienced techs but cannot retain them due to poor pay and benefits. Grossly undervalued for the area we work in. Only people who seem to get promotions are the ones who can’t be trusted to do their current jobs, so they fail upwards. Employer acts like having access to a work van that is needed to do our jobs is a “huge benefit” that other companies won’t provide, which is just not correct. Say they will buy you tools needed for jobs but then question any tool purchase you want to make and have to approve it, which is either denied or a cheaper version of the required tool is sourced to save money that does not work as well as what was requested. 401k match is almost nonexistent, healthcare coverage is costly and not even good. Coverage areas for on call are not defined so no one knows who is responsible for the calls that come in. Overall highly mismanaged and leadership shows no interest in fixing it.
