Pros

Good training and exposure to other parts of the business. Interesting old generation technologies. Majority of people are great to work with.

Cons

Pay is not up to industry standards. Often promoted into new roles and given more responsibility with no increase in salary as seen as a "learning experience" for young engineer. There is a lot of dead wood that the company can't get rid of sitting in high up positions ticking down the days to retirement. A few people promoted on the basis the higher they are the less harm they can do.
