Senior management won't promote the folks who actually do the bulk of the work, they keep their buddies, who in many cases should have been fired.

The work advertised was science oriented. The actual day to day was grunt work including physically demanding lifting and exposure outdoors. Temporary workers or "Interns" were treated as second class citizens by the Scotts company, awkwardly excluded from all full time Scotts employee benefits. Interns were expected to perform physically demanding, repetitive work with very little recognition. While the scientist and managers were professional, the environment was not conducive for long term employment.
