Lack of management: Some managers do not have the capacity to spend time with their teams. No regular check-ins and reviews aren’t meaningful. No clear path for career advancement. You are lucky to get time with your manager.
Executive oversight: No decisions can be made without an executive (family member).
Communication: Lack of transparency results in gossiping which overall feels toxic.
Emotion over metrics: Work is guided more by emotion instead of metrics. It is hard to know why you are working on a project other than the fact that the CEO said so.
Policies over Performance: There is strict yet inconsistent oversight over unplanned paid-time-off (sick days, basically), time tracking, and remote working policies. Meetings will totally derail if there are typos or formatting inconsistencies in documentation. Many procedures based on shuffling of hardcopy paperwork.
Encouragement: there is not a culture of encouragement, even a simple “nice job.” If feedback and encouragement matters to you, you will miss this here.
