Pros

Work environment was ok. Work challenges were interesting. Opportunity to try new things.

Cons

There is a little bit of a bro culture. Lack of leadership and it starts at the top. The CEO is most concerned with his brand and being a "CEO" than actually acting like one. If he truly cared about the company opposed to his own self interests, maybe Searchspring can truly evolve to something great. That's why I left, was deeply unimpressed and uninspired.

Cronyism, underpaid

Pros

* Some of the best people I've had a chance to work alongside. The people on the front lines are very passionate about what they do and making a difference. * A genuinely interesting product * Great customer base who are highly responsive to giving feedback

Cons

* Lots of cronyism, hiring of friends over qualified candidates * Very poor handling of COVID vaccination/mask policies. Upper management never stopped coming into the office and never wore masks. They wouldn't even require unvaccinated people to wear masks in the office, which was well within HIPAA - when I pointed this out to them, they gave me a vague non-answer. * Very uncompetitive pay * There's a company value of "Open by default", however I was told too keep secrets, stop posting certain things, and even had my some of messages deleted. * No follow-through on promises of pay increases or performance review follow-ups * Atmosphere that encourages working nights and weekends

Searchspring Response

It is unfortunate that your employment ended with us, however, due to the nature of this review we found it necessary to correct some of the items that are factually incorrect. - We look forward to our employees referring people that they have worked with in the past. We certainly don't consider referrals cronyism. We also have an extensive hiring process designed to ensure we hire the most qualified candidates. A decision to hire is made by a diverse group of employees and not any single employee - COVID is a concern of all of our workers, that is why we follow all government regulations and recommendations around COVID vaccinations and mask use. The Denver office is a “vaccinated workplace” in following the City of Denver guidelines. - Fair, equal and equitable pay is important to us. We consistently review salaries and are proactive at resolving any discrepancies we come across. We value our people and want to make sure they are happy here. - Listening is the most important thing we do. We do this through quarterly surveys, we solicit feedback at monthly all-hands meetings, and leaders hold open and transparent ask-me-anything meetings. We make actionable plans from the responses and recommendations. - Transparency is paramount. We are not only “Open by Default”, but also do not tolerate publicly shaming people and our “Treat everyone with respect” prevails, messages would only be deleted in the interest of maintaining respect. We wish you nothing but the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

Non-management co-workers are great. I love the fact the company is hybrid and remote friendly. Company paid health care.

Cons

Upper Management/SLT has no idea what they’re doing. They reduced their workforce prior to our busiest time of year and have the audacity to complain when we aren’t able to keep up with the workload. This is all during a time when the company is bragging about record sales and growth. Senior Leadership seems to have no understanding of what we do nor do they seem to care about the employees. They also keep hiring managers who have only seem proficient in micromanaging. The company would be better served spending those six-figure salaries on employees who actually do work. I wish I was a member of SLT because it sounds real nice to make 6 or 7 figures to make terrible decisions.
