Within IT, I found training opportunities were very limited. Compensation was not competitive nor were performance expectations aligned with job titles. On-call rotation was sparse and the organization did not promote effective work/life balance. Leadership in IT and at the senior level did not have realistic expectations for staff or projects. Project management for IT projects was nearly non-existent. The IT group was short staffed even when all open positions were filled and supplementing with offshore contracting. IT Staff turnover is high and retention clearly a challenge which leads to loss of institutional/tribal knowledge. From a culture standpoint, the company seemed outdated and slow to implement policies related to pandemic hybrid/remote vs on-site. Political leanings of senior staff were on display more often than many would have preferred. Senior Leadership did not always correctly assess risks to the organization or take steps to mitigate those risks.

Upper management is out of touch with employees. Computer system change was badly planned and executed. Created more work instead of efficiency. Upper management is too egocentric to admit the mistake. Much outsourcing and layoffs, causing anxiety and ruining company culture.
