Pros
You'll find genuinely smart and dedicated people here who are trying their best despite the circumstances. It's a shame to see such talent in this environment. The rest of the talent is below average, at best. Paychecks are consistently on time, which feels like a rare win in this company.
Cons
Getting started feels less like an introduction and more like being thrown into the deep end without a lifeline. Expect to hit the ground running at an unsustainable pace, with immediate and demanding deadlines for useless projects. There's a constant push for speed, often on projects that are poorly defined or even redundant. You'll be encouraged to "trust" and "move quickly", only to discover later that the effort was useless due to lack of communication or strategic planning. There's an expectation of doing extra work without recognition or compensation, and a tendency to cut corners on core tasks only to address the resulting "broken windows" later, literally calling them "broken windows sprints". Don't get too attached to your colleagues, as people leave frequently, sometimes unexpectedly, without the proper communication on who's the new responsible for that area or topic. Accountability is severely misdirected, with senior leaders openly and publicly blaming individual employees for issues. This creates a deeply uncomfortable and demoralizing atmosphere. The focus isn't on solving actual problems but rather on adopting the latest trendy tools or methodologies, just to appear innovative. This leads to products that are underdeveloped, to initiatives that lack foundational strategy, and to competitors being always ahead. Communication from some senior leaders is frequently inappropriate and disrespectful, contributing significantly to a challenging workplace culture. The company operates on a very short-term, quarterly basis with no apparent strategic direction for the future.
