Pros
-You will learn a plethora and at the same time be challenged to bring your best foot forward when it comes to time management, organization, communication, empathy, and multitasking. -The entire staff takes time out of their respective schedules to be accessible and make sure that you are able to perform up to par with the expectations of the job in addition to their expectations as your mentors. -You will come out of the experience a much more intuitive and confident person when it comes to rehabilitation, proper patient care, and personal skill development compared to when you go in. -The pace and demands of an orthopedic rehab setting like this is a fantastic barometer for what life after PT or PTA school will look like in an outpatient setting, so you have a better gauge of what setting is best for your work style.
Cons
-Passive aggressiveness runs rampant in the workplace. You will be told by more than one person that you bring a presence of tension and uneasiness in the office if you don't visually display easy to catch cues of acceptance towards their established norms of speaking passive aggressively of you to others while in your presence. -Too many patients are allowed to get comfortable with being given special treatment (i.e. overlooking changes to modality settings and lead placement done by the patient and then verbally disciplining the the aide as if patients are the epitome of compliance when in the clinic) while also being given a pass for their sleeziness because of their age and or vulnerable physical state. -If you don't have the flexible availability to cover more than a single shift in a day when needed, you will be made to feel indifferent for making lack of shift coverage an issue for every hour multiple (if not all) clinicians are double booked. -You are the sole guardian held responsible for all company belongings during your shift. In the unfortunate event equipment/supplies ever go missing during the hours you are running in three hundred directions at once on the clock? Just know it doesn't matter that everyone has the exact same level of access that you have to all of the unsecured and unlocked doors that store equipment and supplies. You will be singled out about where the missing equipment went for months on end, as if well over 50 individuals don't come and go to and from the clinic daily to use said equipment/supplies. Many of those individuals whom never inform staff as to their misplacement of, their mishandling of, or lack of availability of said equipment or supply. Some of those individuals who will sneak said equipment/supplies home thinking the company won't notice if one or two things were to go missing.

Pros
For the most part I enjoyed my 10 years with Select Medical. I really liked my boss and co-workers. I was a float therapist so I did not have the typical pressures of the "numbers" goal of patients per day but I would have had that pressure if I were at one clinic or a clinic manager. Unfortunately healthcare is about money just like any other business but I felt like my boss was still patient centered, which I appreciated.

As stated above and I didn't have a ton of opportunities for any upward movement in salary
