Pros
Pay is slightly above average but is highly based on experience. Most network jobs, like system specialist or analyst are very independent jobs. Most of the time, management just leaves me alone unless they feel the need to be managerial for that particular moment and stick their noses into daiky business.
Cons
Piers are not very knowledgeable at all to bounce ideas off of. My boss is a “senior system manager” but does not know anything technical at all. Anytime I pose a question to him, I can hear him typing into google and then he offers the insights of others. Benefits always have put of pocket expenses, 401k match is only 6%, annual raises are a pathetic 3%, IT has an “optional” smart week but you basically expected to go and are looked down upon if you opt out.
