Pros

Above-average pay per tech position. Clean commute in a rural location. Held the line fiscally through a tough time

Cons

Old-boys management, zero mobility. No management of expectations with every team allowed to demand everything of the dev staff all at once, so no way to schedule and manage anything. Pure pressure, and personality-based system of promotion. Hanging on to old systems, zero innovation, zero mobile app approach.

Pros

Great team and opportunities to collaborate. Company is big enough that you can make an impact, but small enough that you can shine as an individual as well. Good benefits, healthy work/life balance, a real focus on employee development and appreciation.

Cons

Company can sometimes be conservative when taking risks.

Pros

Hard working and decades group of employees, unfortunately, the amount of time put into the job is not recognized or acknowledged (definitely not a pro).

Cons

The absolute worse work/life balance I've ever experienced in a job. Workload is impossible. The computer systems is surprisingly antiquated for a company of Selective's stature. Simple adjustments and fixes could be implemented to improve efficiency but are completely overlooked and ignored, perhaps, because no one has time to review or are afraid to stand up for the employees. You simply can't expect employees to work the assigned case load and do a good job!
