Pros

Hospital staff is generally friendly. Doctors and nursing staff typically work well with Respiratory team. Scheduling is flexible.

Cons

Favoritism can rear its ugly head and if you are on the other side of it, it’s very uncomfortable. Aged building, not always having adequate supplies or not having access to new innovative equipment. Inconsistent communication regarding procedures. Punitive environment rather than truly coaching and developing.

Pros

Flexible of hours if arranged, working from home is required, no direct contact with the public, most holidays are off, transparency, consistency, and communication between management and single workers in a timely manner.

Cons

Pay Not Matching Expectations, Issue: Often, the pay for outpatient coding does not align with the increasing complexity and responsibility of the job. This leads to frustration, feeling undervalued despite the skill set and the growing demands of the role.
