      Pros

      I applied for a position with Sentara because I had heard it was an excellent employer and it was true. Excellent benefits, good opportunity for advancement, comparable pay scale for the area, good working relationships.

      Sometimes there is favoritism in hiring.

      Pros

      You get help every step of the way during training. There's an open door policy always if you need to talk about any concerns you may have. Your work keep people safe and healthy. You feel like you have a real purpose because what you do help so many.

      Cons

      The only drawback i faced was sometimes having too short of a time to get an area (floor) stripped and re-coated.

      Good work environment lack of management

      Pros

      3 years working in the emergency department at a newly owned Sentara facility recent take over from being a community hospital. Great brand new facility and great people to work with. Very flexible with scheduling, trades, and shift changes.

      Cons

      Only facility in the area so there is no pay negotiation which allows them to pay lower. Supplies, policies and procedures as well as management direction is constantly changing as we move from what used to be a community hospital to a non-profit healthcare system owned facility. With all the policy changes there seems to be different rules for different people and changes to depending on when you ask.
