      Excellent opportunities to expand your work experiences while working in a progressive health care environment. Transparency in patient outcomes. Great potential for bonuses with clear objectives.

      Cons

      Traffic in Virginia Beach is horrible. Depending on where you work and where you live, your commute can be as little as 10 minutes to an hour each way....

      Pros

      Sentara has a fresh and forward thinking philosophy that runs through everything we do. My co-workers are enthusiastic and leadership has an aggressive and well thought out plan for each step taken. It's exciting to see changes happen rapidly and patient care improve as everyone her cares.

      Cons

      Sentara is a little far from my home, but the daily drive is worth it.

      Pros

      It is Healthcare - stable industry for the near future, great work/life balance, good leadership, competitive salaries, one of the few places that offers a pension plan, discounts at Sentara facilities,overall company approach to patient safety, reputed name in the community, community/charity work, great place for someone near the twilight of their careers to retire.

      Cons

      Mid-level management politics/empire building, poor bonus payouts in recent years, not enough employee recognition, social salary increments - no pay by performance, meager salary increment - hardly keeps with inflation, poor employee review/performance system - only yearly reviews, 6 months of waiting for budget approvals followed by 6 months of hurry up get it done
