      Pros

      The only good thing about working for Sentara was the monetary compensation. That is the only good think I can say.

      Cons

      Sentara is a horrible organization to work for unless you need money really badly. I came into Sentara from one of the hospitals they bought out, and immediately they were talking about getting rid of me because my vast range of IT knowledge did not fit into there little world. Although they did keep me I was immediately put into a cube farm and it went downhill from there. Most of the staff in the Help Desk are extremely uneducated which just dragged the overall performance way down.

      Pros

      You get free flu shots every year and most of the people are good people to work with and pass time.

      Cons

      Cube life = constant sickness. I was always sick when I worked at Sentara. Most of the IT staff has no IT training or education, just on the job training. You get to live with a pager on your hip and rotating on-call schedules. Most of the pages could be solved with better Tier 1 training.
