Pros

There are good benefits, including vacation time and medical.

Cons

Operations has become an increasingly difficult place to work in. The pay has not increased in relation to national inflation. Although the vacation time is good, it is difficult to use the days you have, and to make sure you get enough days in, you have to request your entire year of vacation time at the end of the prior year. If you need a day off next week, or even next month, chances are slim to none you will get it. Weekends are now required, when previously no weekends were worked, and our holidays are diminishing. The entire company gets off major holidays like July 4, Memorial Day, etc., but Operations must work those holidays. The only holidays Operations has left is Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day, and it is rumored that could be changing in the next couple of years. The expectations for work is unreasonable, and quantity is valued above quality. You can be the best, most hardworking employee, but if you fail to meet the required production rate for a given day, you are questioned as to why. You are more likely to hear about what you are doing wrong than what you are doing right.
