Account Manager - Sales

Pros

The obvious and apparent pros would be working from home, company car, and expenses covered. However, the best part about being an “Account Manager” at Sentry is the unlimited earning potential, and the support you receive from management to reach your goals. If you have strong work ethic, and want to challenge yourself, Sentry is a great place to work. If not, you may be one of those leaving a negative review! With recent territory changes, an Account Manager job should be a very coveted job in the insurance industry.

Cons

There is some uncertainty about the future of the direct writing field force, although, I will say that Semtry has communicated their commitment to it.

I’m very pleased to know you’re enjoying your position. We work hard to provide benefits to our associates that not only assist them personally, but professionally as well. As you mentioned, we’re currently going through some changes to how our direct writers operate, so please know we’ll keep all associates informed throughout the process. We’ll also consider your comment about title changes. All our executives, including myself, recently went through title changes to more accurately represent our roles in the insurance industry. Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback and for your years of service at Sentry. John Hyland – President Direct Writer

Pros

Excellent 401K plan. Company car provided. Decent earnings if you are hired to sell and service in an already established territory. Strong claims department and reputation.

Cons

Product restrictions and rules in specific target market make it difficult to grow the business. Over-emphasis on profits limits growth and account retention. Not very flexible underwriting. Certain geographic markets are more competitive than others. Cumbersome quoting process.

Thank you for your thoughtful, detailed review. We’re proud of our reputation as a financially strong insurance company and are happy to provide our associates with a strong benefits package. We can partially attribute our success to our strategy when making decisions about risk, which is represented by the products we sell and the businesses we choose to insure. We understand sales can be challenging at times, so we’re doing our best to give our account managers the tools to succeed—including investing in technology to develop a better quoting process. Thank you again for your feedback. Your comments will help us improve. John Hyland, Vice President of Standard Business Products and Dealer Operations
