Pros

Gratis (free makeup, skincare, etc), 401k, medical benefits, bonuses based on achieving sales goals, rewards for your store doing well in various contests (I had earned enough points through our store's success to get a free $400 digital camera - awesome), hands on training and education (although this has changed in the past year and a half or so), and a closeness you can find nowhere else! Such an amazing company. Sephora is like a sisterhood (with a few brothers too!) that allows the best of friendships to blossom. The environment is fun, non-catty because we aren't commission, and allows you to express yourself in a way you wouldn't be able to elsewhere. You always have people that care about you at work, and that is so important because it makes work enjoyable and a pleasure to go to.

Cons

Sometimes it can be difficult to move up in the company, but I think rather the more difficult piece is deciding which direction you would like to move in, as management is very, very accommodating and genuinely wants to develop you. They truly do develop their cast and will make sure to designate responsibilities to you to help you grow into the role you would like to assume. With that being said, there are definitely some blasé leadership members that make me question the promotion process but I suppose if you've been with a company long enough they have to shove you somewhere … However, most of the time the managers are excellent. Not enough promotion from within. Other con is that the schedules are typically not released until the last minute which is unfortunate for planning your life around, but that's probably the worst thing so it's not bad at all!

Pros

the people I work with, incentive program

Cons

Concept-color dress code, a ridiculous amount of meetings, lack of opportunity to move up, operates like a start-up with many overworked employees, no training whatsoever, strong office politics.

Pros

Focused on education on employees and clients, not commission based, ability to really grow a skillset within the beauty industry, great value system that encourages teamwork, respect, passion, expertise, work/life balance, and initiative.

Cons

Some management tries to do it their own way, not following the standard, which creates more difficulty in adhering to the values. If you're an individual producer, and enjoy commission, this probably isn't the place for you.
