Pros

No meetings on friday and its a great place as a last career job.

Cons

Bad tech teams. Most of the tech folks are incompetent. Good folks leave quickly and bad stay. Too much politics. For everything you need approval. The leadership make most of the decisions, the rest of the folks just try to lobby against each other to keep their jobs and project. This leads to a very toxic work culture. The ones who are favored by leadership get all good projects, rest are just paper pusher. Most of the leaders have no relevant experience. They are there because they stayed (could not find job outside).

Pros

The management really want you to thrive and so they have development conversations that help you understand what you need to do to get to where you want to go. I was lucky enough that I had such supportive leaders that invested in me, and colleagues that truly want to see us all succeed. If you have the positive and can-do attitude, with a strong set of problem solving skills, this job although stressful, was extremely rewarding. I felt valued and listened to and my team made it so worthwhile to work in retail.

Cons

Office politics, tend to be overworked, workload is larger than allocated time for completion

Pros

Sephora is a great company in that it strives to be a voice for those under-represented in our community. It aims to provide an inclusive culture and genuinely focuses on policies and programs that benefit the consumer. The corporate level of Sephora offers access to a lot of exclusive events and "in-communities" that promote diversity in the workplace. Sephora provides health, dental and vision benefits along with other "perks" that occur throughout the year. My team is especially hard-working and are always striving to push the envelope to improve company performance. Jean Andre is the best! Hilarious and honest.

Cons

Some of the departments/teams at the corporate level are undervalued compared to the rest of the corporate office. The majority of mid-level employees (hourly) are underpaid compared to the upper echelons in other departments. From what I've seen personally, the hourly employees are the ones putting in the most work to keep the company running but don't get afforded the luxury to participate in company "Summer Fridays" and other "perks" provided throughout the year. Similar entry-level positions in different areas of the company pay significantly better for the same or less amount of work. Sephora provides an annual continuing education program but there are limited spaces available. What spaces that are available are "sold out" within the same day. From within my own team, the opportunities for promotion and growth seem limited. I can't speak for other departments.
