      Pros

      I've worked for Septa for 6 years and I started out with an entry level job. I've since been promoted to management and I'm very excited about my new position. The benefits are great and the opportunities are endless.

      Odd shifts. Forced overtime.

      Benefits are better than most anywhere in the private sector. In general, great group of people to work with and I worked on a lot of exciting projects as a project engineer,

      Cons

      Salaries for long time employees kept low while in order to bring in new people from the outside, those people are being offered salaries more in line with the private sector creating animosity between the new hires and current ones. Pension contributions are being raised to be equal or more than annual merit increases so wages have gone flat from here on. You'll get your money on the back end but you can't send it now for day to day living.

      The physical plant inherited from the legacy companies is extensive, providing a wide variety of transportation modes for the city of Philadelphia.

      Cons

      Management is very weak. They over manage. Management is not professional. There are some intelligent Managers, but there are a lot of people filling Management roles that they aren't qualified to. To compensate for this, they bully and mistreat many employees.
