Having worked for servicemaster for 3 years I regret putting so much time and effort into this company. As a supervisor I was paid £10.66 p/h which was horrendously low pay for the amount of running around and work you have to do also bearing in mind that even some cleaners are on a higher rate it isn't worth it. Also didn't like the fact that my colleagues were on different rates as they increase pay by "loyalty" (basically if you have been there longer you get paid more) I felt if we are all doing the same job we should all be paid the same regardless of length of time at the company. My manager was in my opinion low skilled at her job, she would discuss my confidential business with clients and cleaners breaching my rights to data protection. She covered up serious misdemeanors by colleagues. I was witness to this on several occassions. She chipped away at my confidence and self worth. Discussed me in a non favourable way with my peers and left me feeling like my job was untenable. I did try to broach her with my feelings and resolve the situation but it just carried on and I felt completely unsupported. I had 3 bereavements close together and no support was given when one of them hit me really hard (it was my mother figure) I asked my manager for time off for bereavement (I wasn't expecting it to be paid) and was met with no, it's my annual leave you have to work as we won't have enough staff I was in no fit mental state to work but felt forced to. When I first joined I felt it was a lovely place and felt happy but it didn't take long for the cracks to appear. Don't get me wrong a few of my colleagues were wonderful people and I enjoyed being around them. Plus my managers, manager was helpful towards me at times and was a very pleasant person but he just wasn't proactive enough with my managers behaviour. The clients I met through this company were wonderful and my staff were good people just feel my manager, the pay and a few select colleagues soured my experience with this company.
