      Overall fun and smart people with a good sense of humor, the work can be tedious.

      Pros

      Open door policy. People are generally very accessible and willing to help, but sometimes a bit too busy to stay organized or level-headed. Nice corporate events and a good sense of community.

      Cons

      Did a lot of doc review. Greater responsibility and exposure to clients may not come until later. Not much mentoring or training programs. Management can be somewhat hands off.

      Business Development is the Only Skill That Matters

      Pros

      There are some smart talented people at Seyfarth. The firm is trying to do some interesting innovative things with client billing to try to depart from the hourly rate.

      Cons

      The only thing management cares about is how big anyone's book of business is, but, at the same time, makes it very hard for attorneys to build that book. A lot of those smart talented people I mentioned in my pro column have been run out of the firm for greener pastures. I'm quite shocked that it has won any accolades as a great place for women to work, since, outside of the labor and employment practice, the firm is hemorrhaging female lawyers.
