Pros

At Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center, new employees are supported in many ways, especially new grads. Our Nurse Residency and Mentor programs east the transition into practice. Our hospital has a family-like culture, with everyone pitching in to help, supporting each other and striving to improve our nursing care. We are small enough to know each other across departments and we have few silos to overcome. Our leaders are visible to staff and open to hearing their concerns. We do not believe that a problem is too big to overcome by working together. I truly enjoy helping employees grow and thrive, as they help me to do so. We want lifelong learners, and those who truly care about helping those in need. We are well on to our Magnet designation, and became a Planetree designated hospital in 2014. We will open a new tower in 2019 which means great opportunities for advancement.

Cons

Each workplace has its own culture, and it's own set of challenges. Our patient population is not wealthy with a lot of resources to support them, so it can be challenging to give them all we want to help them heal.

Pros

Sharp made the Becker's Healthcare list of 150 Great Places to Work in HealthCare for 2017 and rightfully so. I am so proud to tell people that I work at Sharp HealthCare. It is such a culture of kindness where every single person is valued and respected. I have worked for many companies but Sharp is by far the best place I have ever worked and I will be calling Sharp my home and my family for the next 40 years (my expected retirement date). I wake up every morning excited to go to work. I am grateful to work at Sharp and I definitely do not take the opportunity to work at Sharp for granted. Applying to Sharp and accepting a position here was one of the most intelligent decisions that I have ever made.

Cons

Outstanding place to work.
