Pros

Great people working toward a common, substantial goal. Patient care always comes first and it shows in employee behavior. Ensures that you receive decent benefits, 403(b), etc. Fantastic flexibility. Great brand recognition and reputation in the community. State of the art facilities, system is swimming in money to invest in the latest and greatest.

Cons

Pay leaves much more to be desired compared to other large health systems. Executive compensation is over the top. Nurse unions have too much power. Top executives really love attention - to a fault. Employee satisfaction is mediocre - rewards and recognition can stand to be more frequent. Physicians are treated like celebrities.

Before the reorgs, it felt like management cared. After the reorgs, there were absolutely no pros after that.

Cons

Management doesn't understand how IT works and puts project managers in charge. After the reorg it was rule by fear and dropping hints like little kids when they say I know something you don't
