-You are expendable
-Full Time positions (For benefits and a steady 40 hours) are few and far between
-Company puts a lot of stress on managers and store directors, which comes down onto the employees
-Low wages and low raises ($.25/year on average, woo)
-Hours during the winter time are cut severely
-Treat their employees poorly to the point that they can't keep anyone, putting extra duties on other employees
-Makes you sign an agreement when you get hired saying you will not form a union
-If you have a set day off (In my case, I needed Tuesdays and Fridays off, and was hired upon those terms), they can still schedule you for those days, or outside of your available hours during work days. If you don't show up, you can be disciplined.
-Strict employee dress code, to the point of trying to dictate peoples hair color
-Sick time and vacation time are the same thing. When you're a full time employee, calling out sick will automatically make the missed hours from your sick time
-Rarely are they on an employees side in the event of a customer dispute\
-Dumpsters are locked, meaning you need to call a manager to unlock them to throw anything away
-When you're overworked, because in certain departments like Produce or Deli they only let you take down certain things like a salad bar, wing bar, or hot food case at certain times, they expect you to stay until the job's done. Staying 2 or 3 hours past a scheduled end of shift to complete a job is not unheard of, especially during summer hours. If this happens often, it typically ends up in disciplinary action for staying to late. But failure to do the job also results in disciplinary action. But taking things down too early can also result in disciplinary action. Unrealistic expectations for employees.
