Pros

Working in Shell is a super challenging but at the same time very exciting thing, I've been working as a planning and performance analyst for over one year. Besides getting a lot of insights about the energy industy, I still feel everyday is a new day and my daily works will suprise me and make me learn more. To be ture, this makes me feel great! Shell offers me a global platform to coodinate with teams from all over the world, which gives me a precious oppotunity to learn how to cooperate with staff from different culture. I'm doing operating and management for teams and projects, in which I have to coodinate with manage team from Netherlan and Tech team from India. Although there're challenges in daily job, I still enjoy it very much, cause it gives me a whole vision about how to operate and manage a team and projects as well. I joined Shell as a G-staff, so the all-round trainings help me get well prepared for coming challenges within a quite short time.

Cons

I think the only downside is the lifecycle for each project is a little bit long. I think with better communication and cooperation the efficiency of teams can be higher and the period can be shorter in the future.

Pros

Absolutely the best systems and training of any energy sector company. Shell provides outstanding brands and support for sales managers and National Account Managers. Top of the line product specs.

Cons

Occasionally the systems can bog down the sales process. At times, more time is spent reporting internally than being in front of customers

Pros

Competitive pay. Do not need to come into work every other Friday (9/80 schedule). People are friendly. Good benefits and training programs.

Cons

So many processes. So many acronyms. The work is essentially pre planned for you. The work flow for designing the wells is essentially laid out for you. There are essntially about 300 boxes that must be checked before certain deadlines, and as long as you do your little piece of the puzzle then everything will be ok. That may be true at other large companies, but it certainly doesn't make one feel like they're doing much on their own. Then there's the whole fact that we're drilling in the Arctic and all the corporate double talk that all the major O & G companies are guilty of.
