Cons

must sell 9 life policies per quarter as well as show significant agency growth to earn a contract with the company..If you do not write the min life requirement you are put on 3 mths probation ..If life requirement is not met in probation period you are fired. Auto & Home rates are uncompetitive to help your agency grow...Rate increases cause current long time clients to shop and cancel . Revolving door in agencies , Clients are frustrated and shopping

Pros

Shelter is a good company for someone new to the insurance industry. It offers a base salary and health benefits. The products are solid and it has a brokerage department when Shelter products are not an option.

Cons

Shelter focuses on small towns. It does not have competitive rates in bigger cities. Also, if you want to move away from the town you're in, you have to give up your book of business and transfer.
