Pros

Co-workers are amazing and generally care about the patients well being.

Cons

Management is horrible to its employees. They tend to bully employees into working extra hours without concern of their well being.

Pros

Working for one of the most prestigious independent mental health hospitals in the country. Great at hiring new grads, but more of a con than a pro due to high turnover.

Cons

Poor staffing, frequent use of mandation to solve staffing issues that are known well in advance. No float pool. Some staff are allowed to show up late, sometimes by hours, so when it's time to go home you're stuck waiting for your replacement to show up. It's already hard work - dealing with acutely mentally ill patients - but top it off with poor management (lackey yes men, who lack leadership or skills to innovate or improve workplace), a culture that promotes staff burnout, high employee turnover, and mediocre pay.

Pros

Paid vacation time, hours are 8am to 4pm, leading groups can be fun and rewarding

Cons

Pay is not enough for the work that is expected ($11.50/hour), management/HR is so out of touch with the clients (they act like they're afraid of the clients), and the clients expect so much from staff but don't always show gratitude for our efforts
