Sad how far it's fallen.

Pros

The direct supervisors and direct care staff are the glue to this whole operation. Creating great friendships with them is extremely easy. The teachers are always willing to lend a helpful hand if they are available.

Cons

Hard to trust any upper management. There is a sense of "ratting out" that all staff must adhere to for "teaching moments" or consequences are given. Always have to watch your back if you want to keep your job. Very dangerous atmosphere due to all of the restrictions staff have. The residents have the power over the place and they know it.

Pros

The only pros I can think of are the relationships you form with your coworkers and only the coworkers you work side by side with because everyone else you can't trust.

Cons

Upper management! They don't give a damn about their employees they would rather work a person to the point where they are completely stressed out and barely able to function then try and help them. The sad thing is, is that they are a mental health facility, you would think they would put put there staffs well being above the bottom line. At the Jefferson School the only way you get ahead or not be abused by management is to either sleep with management or kiss their butt so much that will never have to wipe again.
