Unfortunately, at the senior management level, quality outcomes are not paramount. There are staff who have been at the agency far longer than they should be but stay on and on so they can retire. This occurs at many non-profits, not just Way Station. Senior administrators, instead of holding ineffective senior managers accountable to job expectations, instead turn their heads, make excuses and delegate their work to others making much less money. This culture produces disgruntled employees and in turn the client care suffers. Ultimately, the monetary bottom line is what dictates treatment even though they are a non-profit. If a program is not making money, there is no push to keep the program even though it is obviously needed. The agency always sounds like they are in financial dire straights therefore there are no merit raises, no cost of living increases, no incentives but the company continues to buy up prime real estate in Frederick.
