- Gain access to one of the finest research centers in the world - Great opportunity to develop research skills and network with very accomplished scientists - Continuing education is highly encouraged (i.e. attending SRAlab/Northwestern University lectures and workshops)

- Negative workplace culture (constant gossiping, speculation, lack of trust, etc.), which led to an extremely high department turnover rate - Very little (if any) opportunity for advancement above project coordinator status; promotion requirements were outlined but rarely followed - Low pay
