Pros

More user friendly than most biglaw. Good place for experience on complicated deals and cases Partnership is a possibility for many

Cons

Bonuses are not at market. The firm is slow to make needed changes. Litigation is main focus of the firm.

Pros

There are some positives working for Sidley Austin. The pay is decent and there's overtime (but they work you for the bone for it). You get a car home and a meal if you stay late and there's a cafeteria inside the building

Cons

The cons outweigh the pros here. The environment is hostile and backwards. People are preferred over others due to their "contacts." Being paid over-time is an excuse for the company to harass you to stay late or come in on the weekends. The lawyers are not friendly and there's evident segregation between "support" staff and lawyers - there's even two separate holiday parties.

Pros

Good location and decent commute; plenty of opportunity to earn extra money due to overtime; nicest people were legal assistants and secretaries.

Cons

Pressure cooker, stressful work environment; obnoxious, rude, pompous attorneys who don't appreciate staff; caste system very much in place between attorneys and staff.
