Pros

A job that I have experience in and is located in the city where I live. Our specific facility have employees who are friendly and cooperate for the welfare of the nursing home residents. The residents make the job worthwhile and is the main reason I continue in my position.

Cons

Emphasis on profit even though their goal is the well-being of the elderly. Too much paperwork required to satisfy the State Inspectors. The facility is only about 7 feet above sealevel and always at risk for Hurricane damage. We have had to evacuate 4 times in the past four years, which is stressful for staff and residents.

Pros

The residents make all healthcare positions worthwhile. The on the ground facility level teams work very hard and often give more than they ever expect in return. Don't think, the Corporate office VPs and CEO know just how hard the facility teams work and often the most dedicated people are very much unappreciated.

Cons

Signature used to be a more loyal company to it's stakeholders but recently and with growth, I think the CEO has become greedy. Often the Administrator and Director of Nursing are expected to perform miracles and the root cause of problems overlooked. For example, facilities are expected to run at full capacity even when there is a lack of corporate business development strategy. People who have worked for years as loyal stakeholders have been let go without warning which goes against everything the CEO says Signature is about. It's no longer personal there. People make huge contributions for years to the company but are let go without a word of thanks. The CEO boasts he's friends with all levels and knows every Administrator/DON personally, but this is an HR strategy used to look genuine. You won't hear from him when you're being laid off or let go after many years.

Pros

very motivated to improve quality of care and employee engagement and quality of leadership

Cons

poor leadership from a couple of regional leaders is tolerated, even though management knows this person has serious people skill issues and causes the company to lose potentially good leaders.
