Worst company ever to work for

Pros

SOME benefits are good and the work tech stack is decent.

Cons

There's zero empathy in this company's leaders. The manager, HR, and Director lack leadership qualities and empathy. If you are struggling or let's say have a doubt, they won't give you time to cope up. They talk behind your back and judge you. There's a lack of communication and lots of nepotism. HEARTLESS people in the E-commerce team.

Thank you for sharing, and I’m sorry to hear that this was your experience. We have a very values-driven culture, one of which is no ego - meaning, we have a workplace where all voices matter, feedback can come from anywhere, and positive intent is assumed. We hear from employee engagement surveys that SimpliSafers feel overwhelmingly supported by their managers, and we’re heavily invested in continuing to build our managers’ and leaders’ capabilities.

Pros

Great people Good work-life balance Great product, good company mission

Cons

PE is turning this place from a cool tech startup into a half-baked tech company run by MBA finance people. Was getting very top-heavy managers/directors and not enough analysts. Analysts spend too much time making pretty slide decks to support high-ups' decisions with little ownership. They are way out of touch with market salaries for analytics people. Folks were getting poached by FAANG and Bay Area startups for 2x the comp. They do not appreciate the talented startup employees that built this company and the culture. Most of these people have already left, got let go, or got sidelined. Promotions are based on "whether you have big company experience" and politics rather than what you do here. Constant changes in leadership. Not much innovation since 2019. Most of what they've been doing was short-term growth tactics, plus under paying/penny pinching employees to squeeze out profits. I left because I was offered a more senior role for much higher comp and more ownership, after being denied promotions repeatedly as a startup employee, despite being key to the company's growth and getting a lot of traction from Big Tech.
