      Pros

      Job security; benefits; subsidized cafeteria.

      Cons

      Asked to work countless hours of OT with no compensation, often without notice. Temporary work is much more sensible since you'll get paid for OT and won't have to be "on call" nor answer emails on Sunday nights.

      Pros

      I worked with very bright people on big and small deals for big and small clients. Great way to learn the highest level of client service and work product. Great launching pad for the rest of your career - in or out of the law.

      Cons

      Little work/life balance. My first year work demands killed my relationship. Like most professional services firms, not great at managing people. Though mostly filled with nice people with the right values, there are some bad apples that manage up well or bill so high that no one corrects their bad behavior/mistreatment of associates. They don't care about your vacation, holidays, personal commitments - they only care about keeping the client happy. But that's the deal - it's not a surprise.
